I had a conversation with my mentor Emmanuel Sir Bonoko who is the founder of E-Bonoko Holdings and also Forbes 30 under 30 most promising entrepreneurs. He has been adding value to society since he was a teenager, and those years of selfless service have taught him valuable lessons. Which he took the time to discuss and analyze them with me over coffee.

Common mistakes that damage one’s personal brand

Personal branding is very powerful because it sends a clear, consistent message about who you are and what you have to offer. A strong, authentic personal brand helps one become known for what they are good at, sets them apart from everyone else, and can position them as a niche expert.

Under Construction .......

In his book, Life Overflowing, TD Jakes says the following," Have you ever been on a construction site? There is a point in the construction of any building when the entire project is in disarray. There is steel and block everywhere, dirt and sands in piles. Everyone is wearing hard hats and safety glasses and the site looks like anything but a building. However it doesn't matter how things looks at the stage. The architect is there with his blue print. He has a vision for what the place is going to look like when it is finished. It's coming together. Although it may be days, months and years, the building is being built.

So, fitting in… it’s such a strange concept actually. If you think about it, we’ve been trained to ‘fit in’ from birth. As a little girl I was exposed to endless fairy tales of what love looks like and of course Barbie dolls. When I got older fitting it was about having the right phone, the right brand of clothing, the right hairstyle and hair texture. When I reached adulthood it was about what car I drove, where I stayed (have I moved out of my parents’ place yet?), what job I had, and, of course, am I married yet? OH MY FLIPPING POTATO CAKES; who actually cares?!

In the weekend of VDJ, Durban is filled with a lot of fun you can think of and hotels fully booked by traveling guests whom like to experience the VDJ at first hand experience. I however on the other hand did not feel the need of going out, and so I bought snacks that will last me the weekend and watch movies as I had no intensions of being part of the VDJ fun.

I am preparing for the 2017 Soweto Marathon > #AyeyeSowetoMarathon.

It's a Tuesday morning and I have planned to go for a run. My dad sends me to our neighbors to sort out our electricity and as soon as I step outside the house, I feel the cold. It is very cold.....

According to the dictionary Rejection can be defined as the act of pushing someone or something away. One may experience rejection from one's family of origin, a friend, or a romantic partner, and the resulting emotions can often be painful. Rejection might be experienced on a large scale or in small ways in everyday life.

Each morning, you have the opportunity to edit and rearrange your life. Do not rely on the world to pump life, love and hope into you. Life is personal work. Instead of depending on your circumstances, or reacting to what others are doing around you, know that all the time, you have the power to determine the shape, direction and quality of your life.

Blog by Thabo Mmotong We all need multiple income streams

Not all of us get the opportunity to earn a six-figure salary or to run a multimillion rand business.

Most of us depend on a single monthly income [if we are lucky to even get a job] – and our income is never enough to afford us the life and financial freedom we long for.

A couple of weeks ago I met a lady who also runs her own business. Nothing strange as I meet a lot of ladies who own businesses all the time. What I found strange though was the name of her business which at first seeing it you would think the business is a financial institution when it actually isn’t. After a few exchange of words, I suggested she rebrands. Firstly because the business doesn’t resonate with the services she offers but also because when she bought the building it was already named and she just continued with the name.
